A handsome example of Tissot’s serious Swiss dive watch, this Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 combines substantial wrist presence with one of the best-known modern automatic movements in its class.
The 43mm stainless-steel case surrounds a clean black dial with large luminous hands and markers, date display at 6 o’clock and a black ceramic dive bezel. Sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and 300 meters of water resistance make the Seastar a legitimate sports/diving watch rather than simply a dive-styled piece. The exhibition caseback provides a view of Tissot’s Powermatic 80 automatic movement and its approximately 80-hour power reserve.
This example presents in near-mint condition. The case, bezel, crystal, dial and bracelet all show extremely well, with only very minor evidence of careful handling/wear visible under close inspection. The bracelet and clasp are similarly clean.
Even better, the movement is running exceptionally well. Our timegrapher test showed approximately:
+2 seconds/day | 292° amplitude | 1.3 ms beat error
Those are very strong numbers for a pre-owned Powermatic 80.
