A handsome example of MIDO’s Ocean Star Captain Caliber 80 — a serious Swiss dive watch that combines traditional tool-watch capability with an unusually versatile blue-dial design.
This MIDO Ocean Star Captain, ref. M026.430.11.041.00, features a 42.5mm stainless-steel case, matching stainless bracelet, blue dial and coordinating unidirectional dive bezel. The applied luminous hour markers and broad luminous hands give it excellent legibility, while the orange-tipped seconds hand adds just enough color to an otherwise understated design.
At 3 o’clock is a particularly useful day-and-date display, and inside is MIDO’s automatic Caliber 80, providing approximately 80 hours of power reserve.
With sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown and 200 meters of water resistance, the Ocean Star is a genuine dive watch that works just as well as an everyday sports watch.
Condition: This example presents very nicely overall, showing normal light evidence of careful previous wear.
The blue dial presents beautifully and the sapphire crystal appears clean. The case and bracelet retain their original brushed and polished finishes and show light surface marks consistent with normal use. The clasp shows some typical light desk wear.
The blue bezel presents particularly well, with its markings remaining crisp and clean.
