Glycine Combat SUB 39 Gilt GL0401 Automatic – Black & Gold – Full Set - SOLD

The Glycine Combat SUB has developed something of a cult following among enthusiasts, and this version makes it easy to understand why.

This is the Combat SUB 39 Gilt, reference GL0401, pairing a black dial and dive bezel with warm gilt accents throughout the handset, bezel, crown, and bracelet. At 39mm, it also hits a sweet spot for anyone who likes the capability of a modern dive watch without the oversized proportions common to the category.

The dial is one of the highlights. Large Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 give the Combat SUB a distinctive military-inspired character, while the gilt hands and markers provide excellent contrast against the black background. A date window sits between 4 and 5 o'clock, and the red triangle at 12 adds just enough color.

It's sporty, distinctive, and considerably more interesting than another generic black dive watch.

Condition

This example is pre-owned and presents very well overall.

The case, bezel, bracelet, and clasp show light signs of previous use consistent with careful wear. The black dial presents cleanly, and the sapphire crystal appears excellent in the photographs.

The two-tone bracelet complements the gilt treatment particularly well and includes an additional link.

Movement & Performance

Inside is Glycine's GL224 Swiss automatic movement, based on the Sellita platform and operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour.

We tested this example on our timegrapher, where it produced an excellent result of approximately +1 second per day, with 312° amplitude and 0.1 ms beat error in the photographed test position.

Those are exceptionally strong numbers for a pre-owned mechanical watch.
