Zelos Hammerhead 43 Field Bronze “Bedrock” Automatic

The Zelos Hammerhead has built its reputation on bold design, robust construction and materials rarely encountered at its price point. The Hammerhead 43 Field “Bedrock” takes that formula in a distinctive direction, pairing a solid CuSn8 bronze case with an exceptionally textured hammered dial.

The Bedrock dial is the centerpiece. Its irregular hammered surface plays dramatically with the light, while oversized luminous markers, bold 3-6-9 Arabic numerals and substantial hands retain the legibility expected from a purpose-built field watch. The warm bronze case provides an ideal complement and will continue to develop its own individual patina with age and use.

Inside is the dependable Seiko NH38 automatic movement. Unlike the ubiquitous NH35, the NH38 is purpose-built for no-date watches, eliminating the unused “ghost” date position at the crown. The movement offers automatic and manual winding, hacking seconds and approximately 41 hours of power reserve.

Despite its field-watch appearance, the Hammerhead is constructed to genuine dive-watch standards. A sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while an impressive 300 meters of water resistance makes this far more capable than its vintage-inspired appearance suggests.

This example is fitted to the factory-style black FKM rubber strap with bronze-tone hardware and includes the distinctive Zelos three-watch travel roll and warranty card shown in the photographs. The watch has also been checked on our timegrapher, showing approximately -3 seconds/day with 0.0 ms beat error at the time photographed.
