Glycine Airman Worldtimer GL1022 42mm Swiss Quartz Blue Dial – Box & Hangtag

Originally conceived as a watch for pilots and frequent travelers, the Airman has developed into an entire family of aviation-inspired watches. This Airman Worldtimer GL1022 takes that familiar formula and packages it into a rugged, easy-to-own Swiss quartz travel watch.

The star of this example is its rich blue dial, which shifts noticeably with changing light. Large luminous hands and markers provide excellent legibility, while warm-tone accents give the dial more personality than the typical monochromatic pilot watch.

Surrounding it is a numbered rotating bezel operated through the secondary crown at approximately 4 o'clock. A date window at 3 o'clock completes the package.

At 42mm, this is a substantial sports watch without wandering into truly oversized territory.

Condition

The stainless-steel case and bezel show light marks consistent with normal previous handling and wear. The blue dial presents beautifully, with crisp printing and attractive contrasting markers and hands.

The leather strap shows some evidence of previous use, particularly on the underside and around the adjustment holes, but remains quite presentable. The contrasting stitching complements the warmer accents on the dial nicely.

The sapphire crystal presents cleanly in our photographs.

Movement & Performance

Power comes from the Swiss-made Ronda 515 quartz movement. Glycine specifies this movement for the GL1022 along with sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown.

That makes this Airman particularly well suited to someone who likes the history and appearance of a mechanical pilot's watch but wants quartz convenience and accuracy.
